Log Search Bar Plugin for Selenium IDE

LogSearchBar

The Find toolbar will be added to the log pane.

The Log Search Bar plugin for Selenium IDE is now available on the Firefox addons site.

The Log Search Bar plugin is a plugin for Selenium-IDE to show a find toolbar in the log pane making it easy to search through the displayed log messages. Once this plugin is installed, the log pane will be changed to contain the find toolbar similar to the one found in the Firefox browser.

Mini user guide for the plugin

  1. Type the search term in the Find textbox on the Find toolbar.
  2. Click on the Next and Previous buttons to search for the next or previous matches.
  3. Check the Match Case checkbox to to case sensitive search.

The shortcut keys when the Find toolbar is in focus are the same as the ones you use in FireFox. For the English version they are as follows:-

  • Next match: Alt-N
  • Previous Match: Alt-P
  • Highlight All: Alt-A
  • Match case: Alt-C

Known Issues

  1. If the window size is too short or the Selenium IDE is displayed as a sidebar, part of the Find toolbar will not be visible or may display some part on the window border. All functions of the Find toolbar will be available by using the shortcut keys mentioned earlier.
  2. If you press the single quote (‘) or the slash (/) in the log window, the Quick Find toolbar will replace the find toolbar and will be hidden after a few seconds leaving you without the find toolbar. To get the find toolbar in the log pane again, switch to any other pane and then switch back to log pane.

Get it from the Firefox addons website here. As usual feel free to leave comments, improvements, advise, criticism, problems…

Your awesome crusade to create IDE plugins is just great. All of these have defined features that were lacking in a real IDE, but you imagined them, and made them real. Cheers!

I downloaded this yesterday and got the find box but buttons were greyed out even after text was entered. PC was running FF3.5.11 with SIDE 1.07. When I downloaded in FF 3.6 with SIDE 1.07 it worked fine.

    Great plugin, should be mainline.

How about a find function on the script pane?

      Hi Bob,

Hmmm. It should work on all versions of Firefox from 3.0 onwards. Thanks for letting me know about it. I will try to investigate it further.

Btw, I moved your comment from the stored vars plugin to this one as I felt it was more appropriate here. Hope you do not mind.

      Cheers,

I have Fairfox 3.6.15 and I install selenium, but I can’t find this tool in the menu or where I suppose to see it?

    Thanks

    Hi Samit,

I would like to thank you for such great plug-ins for Selenium.

I wanted to know, is there any plug-in by which we can create a result file for my executed test cases in SeleniumIDE.

    Thanks in advance
    Bhasker
